Description

Cream white or almost white.

1 g of the drug contains active substances (mg):

betamethasone dipropionate (in terms of 100% substance) 0.64;

gentamicin sulfate (in terms of anhydrous gentamicin) 1;

clotrimazole (in terms of 100% of the substance) 10.

Excipients: methylparaben (methyl parahydroxybenzoate) (E 218) – 2 mg, propylene glycol, disodium edetate, mineral oil, white soft paraffin, cetostearyl alcohol, macrogol 20 cetostearyl ether, sodium dihydrogen phosphate monohydrate, hydride hydrate.

Pharmacological properties

Due to the combination of active substances, the drug has anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, antibacterial, antifungal action.

Betamethasone dipropionate is a synthetic fluoride-containing corticosteroid. Has anti-inflammatory, glucocorticoid, antiallergic, antipruritic action. When applied topically, it narrows blood vessels, eliminates itching, slows down the release of inflammatory mediators (iseosinophils, smooth cells), interleukins 1 and 2, y-interferon (from lymphocytes and macrophages), inhibits hyaluronidase activity and reduces the permeability of vascular walls. Metabolized in the liver. Excreted by the kidneys, partially excreted in milk.

Clotrimazole belongs to the group of imidazole antifungal drugs. Helps increase the permeability of the phospholipid membrane of liposomes, vacuolation of the cytoplasm, reducing the number of ribosomes. Active against: Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Epidermophyton floccosum, Microsporum canis, Candida albicans, Malassezia furtur (Pityrosporum orbiculare).

Gentamicin – a broad-spectrum antibiotic from the group of aminoglycosides, acts bactericidal against gram-negative bacteria: Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Aerobacter aerogenes, Escherichia coli, Proteus vulgaris, Klebsiella pneumoniae; gram-positive bacteria: Streptococcus spp., Staphylococcus aureus.

At external use of the drug Sanoderm in therapeutic doses, transdermal absorption of active substances into the blood is very unlikely. The use of occlusive dressings significantly increases the transdermal absorption of betamethasone and gentamicin, which may increase the risk of systemic side effects.

Application

For the treatment of dogs and cats with dermatoses with a pronounced allergic, inflammatory reaction, itching, redness, swelling, infiltration of exudate, complicated by secondary bacterial infection; fungal skin diseases: dermatophytosis caused by Microsporum canis, Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, candidiasis caused by Candida albicans, Candida parapsilosis, lesions of the yeast Malassezia furtur.

Dosage

The cream is applied topically. The dose of the drug depends on the area of ​​the affected area. Before applying the cream, the hair on the affected area is cut. The cream should be applied to the affected skin and surrounding areas in a thin layer 2 times a day (morning and evening), gently rubbing into the skin; after achieving clinical improvement, the frequency of drug use can be reduced to 1 time per day.

The duration of treatment is determined by the elimination of the inflammatory process and negative data of bacterial and / or mycological analysis, cessation of itching, skin cleansing.

The course of treatment depends on the type and severity of the disease, the effectiveness of therapy, is determined by a veterinarian and is usually 2-4 weeks (maximum); between repeated courses requires a break of at least 20 days.

Contraindication

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

Side effect

Excessive and prolonged use of the drug on a large surface of the skin can lead to systemic effects inherent in the use of glucocorticosteroids, namely: suppression of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system with the development of secondary adrenal insufficiency, symptoms of hypercortisolism (weight gain, edema glucosuria, hypokalemia), the occurrence of Itsenko-Cushing syndrome.

Warning

Avoid contact with eyes, open wounds.

Do not apply the cream on the skin around the eyes.
