Prazicid complex drops for dogs 5-10 kg, 3 pip x 1.7 ml
Composition and form of release
Prazicid-complex – broad-spectrum antiparasitic drops for external use. Contains as active ingredients: praziquantel – 102 mg / ml, ivermectin – 24 mg / ml, levamisole – 25 mg / ml, thiamethoxam – 35 mg / ml and excipients.
The drug is produced in polymer tube-pipettes of 2.5 ml sealed in plastic packaging together with instructions for use.
Pharmacological properties
International non-proprietary name of the drug: ivermectin + praziquantel + levamisole. Prazicid-complex refers to combined antiparasitic drugs. Possesses a wide spectrum of activity, is active against larval and sexually mature phases of development of intestinal nematodes, including Toxocara canis, Toxocara cati, Toxascaris leonine, Ancylostoma spp., Uncinaria stenocephala, Trichuris vulpis and cestodes, including Echinoloclocular Echiscus granulosus Diploma Dipilidium caninum, Multiceps multiceps, Taenia spp., Mesocestoides lineatus, fleas (Ctenocephalides spp.), Lice (Linognatus setotus), lice (Trichodectes canis), sarcoptoid ticks (Sarcoptes canis, Otodectes, Notodectes cynotes) parasitizing in dogs and cats.
The mechanism of action of the ivermectin, which is part of the drug, is its effect on the magnitude of the current of chlorine ions through the membranes of the nerve and muscle cells of the parasite. The main targets are glutamate-sensitive chlorine channels, as well as γ-aminobutyric acid receptors. A change in the current of chlorine ions disrupts the conduction of impulses, which leads to paralysis and death of ectoparasites and nematodes.
The action of praziquantel is based on depolarization of neuromuscular ganglion blockers, impaired glucose transport and microtubular function of all phases of cestode development, which causes impaired muscle innervation, paralysis and death of parasites.
Levamisole has nematodicidal activity, exhibits immunostimulating properties by increasing the number of T-lymphocytes.
Prazicide-complex according to the degree of impact on the body belongs to moderately hazardous substances (hazard class 3 according to GOST 12.1.007-76), when applied to the skin in recommended doses does not have a resorptive-toxic, local irritant, embryotoxic, teratogenic and sensitizing effect … In contact with mucous membranes, it causes slight irritation. The drug is toxic to fish and bees.
Indications for use
Treatment and prevention of intestinal nematodes, cestodoses, entomoses, otodectosis, sarcoptic mange, notoedrosis, demodicosis, as well as protecting animals from the attack of ixodid ticks.
Method of administration and dosage
Prazicide-complex is applied to animals externally, by application to dry intact skin. Before use, break off the tip of a pipette tube and, spreading the fur apart, apply the drug to the animal’s skin in places that are inaccessible for licking (in the neck area at the base of the skull or between the shoulder blades); when processing large animals, the drug is applied in 3-4 places.
For the destruction of fleas, lice, lice and protection of animals from the attack of ixodid ticks, the treatment of animals with the Prazicid-complex is carried out once a month throughout the entire season of insect activity. The drug is applied to animals externally by application to dry, intact skin.
In sarcoptic mange, notoedrosis and demodicosis, the drug is applied with a swab on the affected areas of the body, previously cleaned of scabs, from the periphery to the center with the capture of borderline healthy skin up to 1 cm in doses indicated in the table. The treatment is carried out 2-4 times with an interval of 10-14 days until the animal’s clinical recovery, which is confirmed by two negative results of acarological studies. Animals with extensive lesions are treated in two doses with an interval of 1 day, applying the drug first to one and then to the other half of the affected body surface. To prevent licking of the drug, the animal is put on a neck collar, a muzzle, or the jaws are closed with a loop of braid, which are removed 20-30 minutes after applying the solution.
For deworming animals with nematodes and cestodes, the drug is used for therapeutic purposes once, with prophylactic purposes – once every three months, in the above doses.
