Oxyd gel 9%, 15 ml (benzoyl peroxide)
Description
Gel from colorless to white.
1 ml of gel contains:
- benzoyl peroxide – 90 mg.
Excipients: propylene glycol, carbopol 940, disodium EDTA, sodium dioctyl sulfoccinate, diisopropanolamine.
Pharmacological properties
Oxyderm – antiseptic and keratolytic agent for the care of the skin of animals of local action, contains benzoyl peroxide.
Benzoyl peroxide has antiseptic and keratolytic properties, inhibits (due to the release of oxygen) the development of gram-positive bacteria: Propionibacterium, Staphylococcus epidermidis and others. Has a keratolytic effect, improves tissue oxygenation, the process of granulation ulcers. Reduces the formation of fat by the sebaceous glands of the skin. Benzoyl peroxide, unlike antibiotics, has a direct toxic effect on bacteria – when it enters the sebaceous hair follicle, benzoyl peroxide is metabolized to form benzoic acid with the release of oxygen, a high concentration of which kills anaerobic bacteria, including resistant to antibiotics. Antimicrobial action in combination with anti-inflammatory effect leads to a rapid decrease in papulopustular lesions. Unlike antibiotics, the use of benzoyl peroxide does not cause resistance in bacteria. Benzoyl peroxide is also effective for the treatment of open and closed comedones due to keratolytic and comedonolytic action.
Pharmacokinetics
The gel penetrates the skin, where it is converted into benzoic acid.
Application
Antiseptic and keratolytic agent for skin care of animals with pustular skin processes (acne, pyoderma, purulent folliculitis), to reduce the clinical intensity of external manifestations of atopic dermatitis, comedones and other conditions treated with local antimicrobial and keratolytic agents.
Dosage
Animal skin care product is applied twice a day by applying a small amount of gel to the affected area of animal skin. After spreading the coat, the tip of the tube is brought to the affected area and carefully apply a small amount of gel. The course of treatment depends on the type of lesion and the condition of the animal’s skin.
In severe cases or in the presence of the underlying disease OXIDERM is combined with veterinary drugs, if necessary, and systemic.
