Dana Ultra antiparasitic collar for dogs of large breeds, 80 cm
Composition and form of release
Collar Dana Ultra is a broad-spectrum antiparasitic drug for external use, containing as active ingredients: 4% fipronil, 1% ivermectin and 0.25% pyriproxyfen. In appearance, they are polyvinyl chloride tape with a plastic buckle of various colors, depending on the type of dye used. The collar is 80 cm long when folded, packed in a sealed plastic bag placed in a cardboard box.
Pharmacological properties
Collar Dana Ultra is a combined preparation with a wide spectrum of activity against parasitic ticks, insects and round helminths of small domestic animals. Fipronil and pyriproxyfen have a long-term contact insect-acricidal and repellent effect on larval and mature stages of development of fleas, lice, lice and ixodid ticks, gradually emerging from the surface of the tape, they are transferred to the skin and hair of the animal, accumulating in the epidermis, hair and sebaceous follicles glands of the skin. Fipronil blocks the GABA-dependent receptors of the parasite, disrupts the transmission of nerve impulses, which ultimately leads to paralysis and death of arthropods. Fipronil has no effect on mammalian GABA receptors. Pyriproxyfen disrupts the processes of chitin synthesis and larval molting, prevents the development of full-fledged pupae and causes the death of insects at the preimaginal stages of development, which leads to the termination of the replenishment of the ectoparasite population. Ivermectin has a contact and systemic antiparasitic effect on ticks, insects and gastrointestinal nematodes: toxascaris, toxocar, uncinaria, hookworm, trichocephalus and other round helminths parasitizing domestic carnivores. Ivermectin, gradually released from the surface of the tape, accumulates in the epidermis, hair follicles and sebaceous glands of the skin, is partially absorbed into the systemic circulation, and when licked by animals from the skin and hair, it enters the gastrointestinal tract, where it exhibits its nematodicidal effect. Ivermectin modifies the current of chlorine ions through the membranes of the parasite’s neuromuscular cells. The main targets are glutamate-sensitive chlorine channels as well as GABA receptors. A change in the current of chlorine ions disrupts the conduction of nerve impulses, which leads to paralysis and death of the parasite. Collar Dana Ultra does not possess local irritating and resorptive-toxic properties.
Indications
It is prescribed for dogs to destroy fleas, lice, lice, ixodid ticks and prevent their attacks on animals, as well as to prevent ear scabies (otodectosis) and nematodes of the gastrointestinal tract.
Doses and method of administration
After opening the package, the collar is unfolded and put on the animal, adjusting in size so that a gap of 1-1.5 cm remains between the animal’s neck and the collar, then the free end of the tape is passed through the buckle loops, the excess tape is cut off. With a strong degree of insect infestation, before using the Dana Ultra collar, it is recommended to wash the animal with an insecticidal zoo shampoo. To prevent re-infection, it is recommended to replace or treat the bedding of the animal, its habitat and care items with insect-acaricidal preparations in accordance with the instructions for use. The first days after the use of the collar, the attack and attachment of ixodid ticks to the animal is possible, but after 1 – 2 days the parasites spontaneously disappear.
Side effects
In rare cases, with increased individual sensitivity of the animal to the components of the collar, the manifestation of allergic reactions, muscle tremors, vomiting, increased salivation is possible. In this case, the use of the collar is stopped and, if necessary, desensitizing and symptomatic therapy is carried out, the wool is thoroughly washed with cosmetic animal shampoo or soap. When using the collar for the first time, in rare cases, the animal may experience anxiety, quickly passing tears and profuse salivation.
Contraindications
Individual hypersensitivity to drug components. It is not recommended to use the collar in pregnant and lactating females, patients with infectious diseases, convalescent, weakened and emaciated animals. The antiparasitic collar should not be used concurrently with other insect-acaricidal agents for animals.
special instructions
If you have cuts and abrasions on your hands, the owner of the animal should use rubber gloves when handling the antiparasitic collar. After attaching the collar to the animal, wash your hands thoroughly with warm water and soap, wash and dry your gloves.
