Bonharen a drug intended for the treatment of arthritis, arthrosis and tendovaginitis of non-infectious etiology in horses, dogs and cats.
Bonharen – is a drug that is prescribed for the treatment of arthritis, arthrosis, tendovaginitis, tendinosis, bursitis and osteochondrosis of non-infectious etiology in horses, dogs and cats. The drug is a 1% solution for injection, which, as the main active ingredient, contains hyaluronic acid in the form of sodium hyaluronate 10 mg / ml.
Hyaluronic acid is a natural constituent of the synovial fluid of the joint, which ensures its normal functioning. Bonharen is used both subcutaneously and intravenously, has an anti-inflammatory effect, restores mobility and reduces pain, restores the filtration and production function of the synovial membrane, restores the elasticity of the articular cartilage and replenishes its defects. Use during pregnancy and lactation is possible.
Indications for the use of Bonharen:
– chronic, acute and subacute arthritis, arthrosis;
-polyarthrosis;
– dysfunction of the joints, which is accompanied by lameness;
-chronic and acute tendinitis, tendovaginitis;
– osteochondrosis and bursitis of non-infectious origin;
– corneal ulcers and wounds;
– chronic and acute keratitis, conjunctivitis and keratoconjunctivitis.
The drug is administered subcutaneously or intravenously, in case of eye diseases, the drug is dripped into the eyes. The course of treatment: 3-7 injections, the interval between which is 5-7 days.
Calculation for one injection: 0.01 ml of medicinal product per 1 kg of body weight – for horses; 0.1 ml per kilogram of weight of cats and dogs less than 5 kg; 0.05 ml per kilogram of weight for dogs over 5 kg.
Contraindications and side effects:
Bonharen is not prescribed simultaneously with erythromycin, amoxicillin, cefquinom and other cationic antimicrobial drugs. A swelling may develop at the injection site, which will disappear within 1-2 days.

The medicinal product does not contain genetically modified products.
In appearance, Bonharen is a colorless transparent solution.
Bonharen is produced in the form of a sterile solution, packaged in 2 and 6 ml in sterile glass vials of appropriate capacity, sealed with rubber stoppers and reinforced with aluminum caps. Each bottle is labeled in Russian with the name of the manufacturing organization, its address and trademark, the name, purpose and method of use of the drug, the name and content of the active ingredient, shelf life, storage conditions, volume of the drug in the bottle, date of manufacture, batch number , inscriptions “For animals” and “Sterile”, information on confirmation of conformity, state registration numbers and provide instructions for use.
Store the drug in a closed manufacturer’s packaging, protected from light and inaccessible to unauthorized persons, separately from food and feed at a temperature of 5 to 25 ° C. The shelf life of the medicinal product, subject to the conditions, is 36 months from the date of manufacture.
Bonharen should not be applied beyond its expiration date.
Pharmacological properties
Bonharen’s active ingredient, hyaluronic acid, is a naturally occurring compound present in connective tissue, skin, vitreous humor and in the highest concentration in the synovial fluid of mammals. Hyaluronic acid normalizes the cellular composition and viscosity of the joint fluid, improves its lubricity, activates the mobility of granulocytes and macrophages, eliminates the effects of inflammatory processes and helps restore the physiological function of the joint. Hyaluronic acid, when administered parenterally in high concentrations, accumulates in the synovial fluid, where it exerts its therapeutic effect. Bonharen, according to the degree of impact on the body, belongs to low-hazard substances (hazard class 4 according to GOST 12.1.007-76),
The order of application
Bonharen is prescribed for horses, dogs and cats for the treatment of acute and chronic arthrosis, polyarthrosis, subacute and chronic arthritis, acute and chronic tendovaginitis, tendinitis, bursitis and osteochondrosis of non-infectious etiology.
The drug is administered intravenously or subcutaneously to horses at a dose of 0.01 ml per 1 kg of body weight (0.1 mg / kg in terms of sodium hyaluronate), to dogs weighing from 5 to 80 kg – at a dose of 0.05 ml / kg of body weight ( 0.5 mg / kg for the active ingredient), for dogs and cats weighing up to 5 kg – at a dose of 0.1 ml / kg of body weight (1 mg / kg for the active ingredient). The course of treatment is 3 – 7 injections with an interval of 5 – 7 days.
There were no side effects and complications when using the drug in accordance with the instructions. When administered intravenously, strict adherence to the rules of asepsis is necessary. In some animals, as a result of the movement of the needle, a diffuse swelling may appear, which disappears after 24 to 48 hours. Bonharen can be used during pregnancy and lactation.
Bonharen should not be used concurrently with cationic antimicrobial agents (erythromycin, amoxicillin, cefquin), as they cause the drug to clot.
Products from animals after application of the drug can be used for food purposes without restrictions.

It is forbidden to use empty vials from the drug for household purposes.
